Well, I... don't know what to say. I guess I should just start with who I am, why I have this blog, all that stuff.
So, I have thought about starting a blog for a while. It's not as if I have tons of thoughts to get out or anything, but I think I have a few insights and such to share with the world. Regardless, I have gone to start a blog a few times but always stop at some point. Whether it is at the name or something, I have never gone through with it before, so here I am I guess.
So, the reason I actually started this one is because of my friend. Her blog is at http://glitterbug12.blogspot.com/ and it is really good.
I may seem a bit boring and formal now, but I am sure with time I will get more comfortable and show a bit of my insane side.
Ok, my friend has gone to bed and stopped distracting me from my blogging so I can concentrate now. I must say I am having trouble holding back my usual addition of emoticons. I am not one of those people who has an emoticon for every word on MSN, but I think that a few good emoticons can accurately express sentiments that might be lost with the words. For example, if you say, "I have plans that day." It could be taken many ways, if you say, "I have plans that day :(" , "I have plans that day :S" or "I have plans that day :D" It really adds another layer of communication.
As you might be able to tell, I tend to ramble about random subjects. If you can't appreciate that or don't like it, the address bar is right there at the top of your browser, nobody is forcing you to stay here. Speaking of browsers, I would like to point out that in my opinion, Google Chrome is the best browser out there. At one point I tested out all of the major browsers available and all of them have their respective strong points, but I love how chrome has so much compatibility (HTML5 and all), so much versatility, so many extensions and still be amazingly lightweight. With Firefox or Internet Explorer (I shudder to type that name by the way, I consider Internet Explorer to be a terrible browser all around) you have to wait a few seconds while the program gathers all of its bits and bobs and starts up. With chrome, I hit the button and it's ready to go, no annoying toolbars or troublesome start pages, a very minimalist startup. I could go on and on about Chrome and Google in general, and I am sure I will at one point but I think thats enough nerd talk for now.
At the moment I am watching the Olympics in the background while typing this (A Korean Lady just beat a world record in figure skating). I could go on and on about how I have caught olympicmania, but I think this post sums it up perfectly.
The only reason I have any time to write this is because I am off of school for a few days due to the removal of my wisdom teeth. I have mixed feelings about this. Part of me says, "YAY! No school! Epic party the whole time!". That is the optimistic part of my brain. Lets call him Skip. The other part of my mind is noteably more pessimistic, it voices its opinion in a different statement, "F***, I have to get my mouth cut open, be in excruciating pain for days and have to catch up with schoolwork the whole time? This is going to be terrible. Life sucks.". This amazing specimen of pessimism is named Jerry. Imagine Jerry as a cranky old man who sits in his armchair with a can of beer and a scruffy beard complaining constantly. With Skip and Jerry constantly arguing back and forth, I like to focus on John. John got his name because he can be pessimistic and serious, becoming Johnathan, or Happy an Joyous as Johnny, but normally taking aspects of both and becoming John. Anyway, a statement on John's part may be something along the lines of, "Well, I am sure that if you focus and take the painkillers as they are perscribed then the pain won't be that bad and you can take care of your homework, but it won't be a walk in the park.". John is usually more rational than the others, so he is usually the one that I try to listen to.
Now that you have had a tour through my mind, I shall retire upstairs to my bed and continue this there.
I am in bed now. Yes that was meant to sound dirty. As you read this blog you will probably notice that I imply many sexual things. Thats just how I work, if you understand them, congratulations, you are just as twisted as me. If not, don't worry, you are still safe from the level of perversion my mind has reached.
Seeing as that thread didn't seem to be going anywhere interesting, how about I introduce you to some of my favourite blogs?
[ROLL MONTAGE!]
1. Lifehacker
This is an amazing site that gives you many tips and tricks, mostly about computers but also about life. For example, today there was a post "Use Resource Hacker to Customize Application Icons" Which is very tech-nerd oriented, but also posted today was a totally different article: "Gadget and Gear Deals of the Day", not as tech nerdy. There are also plenty of posts that have nothing to do with technology at all, about how to look your best during a presentation, how to fit more into your schedule, how to boost self esteem, everything really.
2. Boing Boing
URL: http://boingboing.net/
URL: http://boingboing.net/
This is pretty much a site about anything and everything. With an attraction towards liberal copyright laws, indy games and steampunk, this site is a perfect window into the amazing amount of cool things out there on the web and in the world.
3. Meta Filter
While often sharing posts with Lifehacker and Boing Boing, Meta Filter stands apart because all of its posts are user contributed. You sign up with a one time fee of $5 and you can post anything interesting you happen to find out on the web. This blog appeals to me for a few reasons, mainly its simplicity (no pictures or adds, just text and links) and its diversity (Rocket science to a collection of defaced dollar bills). Commonly shortened to MeFi, there are many subprojects such as MeFi music and MeFi talk.
4. My Life is Average (MLIA)
MLIA takes average (or in some cases much more than average) anecdotes from user submitted posts and posts them on the site. This site is great if you need a bit of cheering up and you share the humour of the MLIA community. It also helps if you love Harry Potter, hate Twilight and think Google is better than Yahoo.
5. Sleep Talkin' Man
Ok, so this man, Adam, is a normal english gentleman, going about his daily business in a mild-mannered friendly sort of way. This all changes once he falls asleep. His wife chronicals his unconcious ramblings, usually completely coherant, but shows a totally different person. This is another site great for cheering you up and giving you some amazing quotes to use later. "My badger's gonna unleash hell on your ass. Badgertastic!"
So those are my daily blogs, the ones I check when I start up GOOGLE CHROME each time. I check some more often than others, but overall these are my favourites.
I must say I have thoroughly enjoyed rambling tonight, but I think it is about time that I stop and post this. Ooh, first post, exciting isn't it?
I still need to think of a title though, oh well, something will come eventually.
I hope you enjoyed my ramblings, if not, I don't really care.
Until the next time you decide to check in,
-MAESTRO
P.S. Wet Socks
For those that were wondering, yes, the title is one of those comments, a "Thats what she said" moment one might call it.
